Random

June 25, 2008 by Tracy

Some synchronicity toys:

Random Graphics Slideshow

I wrote a PHP script to generate these pics; it draws random abstracts and then picks a random title from the dictionary. The ones that turn out nice are saved, and then displayed in random order by the slideshow. If you click on the title it takes you to a dictionary definition of the word. It may be suitable for use as an oracle deck, but note it does contain negative as well as positive words (nothing horrendous). There are about 600 cards.

Random Asteroid

Selects a random named minor planet from the 14,574 on the list (at the last count). Links you to the JPL database for details of the object, and tells you where it currently is. There are at least 130,000 minor planets so far discovered, but only a small proportion have names.

Random Chart

Generates random chart data, anywhere in the world between 1500 and 2099, and links you to the chart. It does quite often land you in the middle of the sea, and occasionally appears to fall off the edge of the world altogether, but I’ll get around to improving it some time.

P.S. There are also random Tarot spreads here.

Asbous Opposes Huya

June 23, 2008 by Tracy

Asbolus opposite Huya; last occurred in 1924, and about once per century prior to that. This century the pattern changes completely and we get repeated prolonged occurrences of this oppostion, starting today. See the aspect history here.

Asbolus in Taurus makes his first exact opposition to Huya in Scorpio at 8:22:12 UT today, and this aspect continues on and off until 2011. They lock into another long period of opposition from 2031 to 2041, and again from 2061-67. Today is their first post-discovery opposition.

Asbolus is a centaur planet discovered in 1995. He has an extremely elongated 77-year orbit, crossing that of Saturn, coming right in towards Jupiter, and going out as far as Neptune (seeming to skim Neptune’s orbit but not crossing it). He is currently quite close, just beyond Saturn’s orbit, moving inwards.

Huya, named after a Venezuelan rain god, is a slow TNO discovered in 2000, with a 250-year orbit similar to Pluto’s. He is also near the closest point of his orbit. Observation of Huya’s effects is muddied a bit by the fact it’s been conjunct Deucalion, another slow-moving TNO with watery themes, since 2005 (Deucalion is a bit like Noah). They are now beginning to separate.

Fogging

June 22, 2008 by Tracy

Mars in Leo is currently opposite Neptune in Aquarius (exact yesterday). This could feel a little bit like trying to fight with a cloud, or maybe trying to have sex with one like Ixion, who is currently on the Great Attractor opposite Mercury. This aspect reminds me of the assertiveness technique known as fogging.

Neptune, however, gets occulted by the Moon tomorrow morning at 8:06 UT. It can be interesting when one side of an opposition is occulted, it can sometimes upset the balance, allowing the other side to “win.” In Neptune’s case I doubt it though, he’s more likely to simply go from ephemeral to invisible and back again; hiding suits him fine. If your Mars feels frustrated the next day or so, it’s probably worth consciously putting your passion and energy into something very tangible and present, like yourself (Mars in Leo). The opposition will soon pass.
